Programme Note
This piece is faithful to the Baroque Passacaglia form featuring variations over a constant repeated bass-line ostinato, which occasionally moves to higher registers. This is probably the darkest piece in my solo guitar collection. I latterly dedicated the piece to the late Julian Bream, whose playing of the Rodrigo, Weiss and Britten Passacaglias influenced this piece.
