Running Out of Gas
Here’s a new type of tune I’m calling a ‘Cúig Reel’.
Cúig is the Irish language word for 5 and this tune is a kind of reel in 5/4.
Composed ‘on the road’ in New Zealand as we nearly ran out of gas until we luckily found a petrol station near the town of Seddon. The long notes at the end of each phrase are symbolic of the idea of ‘Running out of Gas’.
The tune gains momentum until the end of each phrase, where we almost run out of musical gas!
